![]() ![]() I think the above commands can run on all versions of Ubuntu if you have the same errors in your Ubuntu version. Then the errors as above will disappear from our server. Then run the following command: sudo dpkg -configure -a This error is generated when the system is unable to acquire the required permissions to install or upgrade programs. After that, you can run the commands as below: sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/lock While updating or installing packages using apt, apt-get, aptitude, or dpkg, you might get an error saying ‘ unable to acquire the dpkg frontend lock ‘ or a similar error related to locks. If you find the commands above generate one pid value, then stop the process by using the kill command. The above commands may not return any value or may only return one pid value. Use the following commands to view the hanging processes: sudo lsof /var/lib/dpkg/lock ![]() However, there are another dpkg lock error like the errors above, such as the errors below:Į: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock – open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)Į: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/Į: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock – open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)Į: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?Į: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend – open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)Į: Unable to acquire the dpkg frontend lock (/var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend), is another process using it?įrom the errors above, there seems to be a process hanging on the server. After running the commands above, then run the following command: sudo dpkg -configure -a The above commands will delete the lock files. But, if you still can’t install, try the following commands: sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/lock Then I could resolve this issue and continue my installation process. ![]()
